“Life is a university, and you never graduate.” – Srikumor Rao, Indian Educator and Author

Never leave the university, with the Emeriti Society!

If you are a retired academic or administrative professional from a four-year college or university, you are invited to be a part of the Coachella Valley’s Emeriti Society, hosted by PDC. We all share the values of education and exploration, alongside the thrill of learning – and that doesn’t stop when we retire!

The Emeriti Society will provide members access to events and adult learning opportunities at the Palm Desert Campus. From speakers and cultural events, to Osher classes, to special interest lectures and academic conferences, members of the Society will be able to stay engaged in a wide variety of ways.

Because you enjoyed the academic experience when you were part of it, you may enjoy becoming involved with the students again. We have a unique population of largely first-generation college students, and you can make a real difference as an emeriti who may mentor students and student groups, or be a guest lecturer in your area of expertise. The possibilities for becoming reconnected with campus life are limited only by your time and interest as a member of the Emeriti Society.

There is, of course, a social element to membership. You will have the opportunity to meet colleagues who have served around the world, and make at least their part-year residence here. In short, you have a lot in common with other members and will be able to network in ways that interest and excite you. The Palm Desert Campus will provide opportunities including social hours and hosted events, and members may begin to create their own social activities. Bridge, anyone? Movie and book groups? All of these and more are emerging from the membership with the support of available locations on campus.
