The Cal State University Associates is a premier organization of supporters of the Palm Desert Campus of California State University, San Bernardino. Members serve as good will ambassadors for the campus in the community and contribute tax-deductible yearly dues of $100/year for individuals, $150/year for couples, $300/year for corporations (up to 4 attendees per event) or $500/year for the Patron’s Circle which includes a guided “behind the scenes” campus tour for member and guest by Development Officer and/or faculty in area of interest.) The majority of these dues go towards scholarships for deserving students at the campus. Events begin with a social hour at 6 p.m., when appetizers and beverages are served. Members have the opportunity to “meet and greet” Dr. Sharon Brown-Welty, dean of the CSUSB Palm Desert Campus, fellow Associates members and special guests. The Program begins at 7:00 p.m.

The Cal State University Associates has already donated $100,000 to the campus scholarship program!

In addition to helping the campus at a time of declining state support and increased costs, members receive special benefits such as free admission to many campus events as well as invitations to exclusive "members only" programs.

"University for a Day Series"

The "University for a Day" series features the very best university instructors lecturing on a variety of topics. Academy –award winner, Dr. Stuart Sumida, was a past speaker. A professor of paleontology at the San Bernardino campus, Dr. Simida is also a consultant for Hollywood films and special effects projects.

An Evening with…"Series"

The "An Evening with…" series features intimate memoirs and discussions with outstanding citizens, personalities, and celebrities. Past programs include Jack Jones, Andy Williams, Bill Marx, Frankie Randall and a roundtable featuring Senator John Benoit, College of the Desert president, Jerry Patton, and Dr. Fred Jandt, dean of the CSUSB Palm Desert Campus. These are just a few of the enlightening programs Associates members got to enjoy. Also, the California State Supreme Court chose to hear real cases in campus' Indian Wells Theater and Associates members were invited to be a part of this once-in-a-lifetime experience.
