- How to Use
OLLIE
OLLIE is made up of separate
tutorials. Each tutuorial focuses on a different library research
skill. Because each tutorial stands alone, you can do all the tutorials
or just one or two, and you can do them whenever you want.
Most tutorials use "viewlets."
When you click on "begin tutorial," a new smaller window appears on
your screen. All you do is watch the viewlet and take notes. The action
of the viewlet is automatic-- you don't have to touch the mouse or
the screen. When the viewlet is finished playing, click on the small
box at the top right corner of the viewlet window to close it. If
you want to see another tutorial, click on the link on the left side
of the tutorial page that says, "Back to list of tutorials."
You can control the action
of the viewlet if you want to. You do this by clicking on the small
buttons on the bottom frame of the viewlet window. Run your mouse
over the frame buttons to see the options: Pause (stops the action),
Play (starts the action again where you left off), Reset (takes you
back to the start), Next (takes you to the next frame), Back (takes
you to the previous frame).
You can also click and
drag the moving arrow on the bottom of the frame to move forward or
backward in the viewlet.
