Support Your PDC
Community support has always been an important part of the story of your Palm Desert Campus. As the only public university in the country funded entirely by private and municipal support, the campus reflects its community in every way.
The needs of the PDC are many, and your support is genuinely critical to our success.
The Dean’s Innovation Fund is something I’ve founded to provide the essential resources to better the campus experience for students and campus constituents.
Over a third of the residents in the Coachella Valley live in economically disadvantaged households. Most of the students pursuing degrees on the Palm Desert Campus simply do not have the financial resources necessary to complete their college educations without a financial helping hand. Please consider giving a gift to the Palm Desert Campus Scholarship Fund or establishing a scholarship in your name or the name of someone you'd like to honor.
Our Dean’s Innovation Fund has provided a food pantry and this year a community garden to help the 60% of our students who are food insecure. We know you can’t learn when you’re hungry, and the Fund made all of this possible.
The Dean’s Innovation Fund has made it possible for the number of our student clubs to grow from three to more than 20, with nearly every student participating in at least one leadership opportunity on the campus. I’ve challenged the students to provide more than 16,000 hours of community service in 2016-17, up from the nearly 15,000 they provided last academic year, and these efforts are fully supported by the Fund. The importance of providing students the opportunity to develop their social skills alongside the knowledge gained in their academic program is at the cornerstone of a fine university experience and that’s our commitment.
The Dean’s Innovation Fund also assures we are able to conduct outreach and bring more young people to campus than ever before. Because our campus is overwhelmingly first-generation college students and because our Coachella Valley has the lowest college attainment of the entire state, we know that bringing school-aged children to the PDC de-mystifies college and makes our campus accessible to future generations. The Fund made it possible for over 3,000 children to be on campus last year and we expect that number to reach 5,000 this year.
Another way you can make a significant difference is supporting student scholarships.

When you give to the Palm Desert Campus...
Your gift betters our Coachella Valley. Our graduates have an annual $51 million impact in our region through their employment and leadership.
Your gift betters the lives of individuals and families. A college education changes the trajectory of the student, but at PDC, it also changes an entire family.
Your gift betters the opportunities available to everyone in our community. A thriving and vibrant PDC brings entertainment, adult education, and enrichment activities. By supporting the campus, you are supporting the intellectual center of our region.
