For 1,001 nights the young maiden Scheherazade weaves spellbinding tales in an attempt to prevent her husband, the ruler Shahryar, from executing her. Will her tales of love, lust, comedy and dreams prove enough to stay her cruel husband’s blade?
With the recurring theme of how the magic of storytelling holds the power to change people, this adaptation offers a wonderful blend of the lesser-known tales from Arabian Nights, with a final scene taking the audience on a journey to modern-day Baghdad and the dangers threatening the culture’s vibrant history.

Danny Holt, Pianist
New this year! Danny Holt has been called “exceptional” by the Los Angeles Times, and has been described as “the classical music equivalent of an extreme sports athlete.” He brings his boundless energy and wit to performances of classical repertoire as well as music by the composers of today. Danny has performed at Carnegie Hall, Walt Disney Concert Hall, and the Hollywood Bowl. His program includes Mozart’s charming and playful Sonata in F Major, K. 332, selected Intermezzi by Brahms, and Busoni's transcription of Bach's organ Chorale-Prelude No. 3. The program will also include Aaron Copland’s lively El Salón México (based on traditional Mexican folk tunes), Heitor Villa-Lobos’ Alma Brasileira (“Brazilian Soul”), and British composer Graham Fitkin’s rock/jazz-infused Fervent.
