- Students will assume an active role in the newsroom.
He/she will:
- 1. work under the supervision of full time KPSP news
personnel.
- 2. be responsible for monitoring the scanners for
breaking news, contacting various beats for information and
timing of newscasts in control room.
- 3. assist producer, reporter, anchors with other news
related duties.
- This position is ideal for someone looking to
possibly enter the TV news business as a career. You will
learn the valuable, PRACTICAL skills used in newsrooms
around the country.
- The position is primarily a weekend position. Hours
will be 2:30-11:30pm. but are subject to change depending on
the needs of the news operation. Newscasts on Saturday and
Sunday.
- Candidates MUST receive college credit for this
internship and it is a NON-PAYING position. Written
evidence of college credit must be received by KPSP prior to
beginning of internship.

- The CoyoteCareers Service Learning Stipend
Program provides CSUSB students in selected majors and
who have financial need with the opportunity to connect
academic learning with real life by engaging in service
learning as a part of an internship. Service learning
is a teaching and learning strategy that integrates
meaningful community service with instruction to enrich
the learning experience and strengthen communities.
The CoyoteCareers Service Learning Stipend program is
only available for majors in computer science, biology,
chemistry and biochemistry, math, physics, geological
sciences OR minor/certificate program students in
Mandarin, Japanese, Korean, Russian, Arabic and Turkish
languages who are eligible for Pell Grant funding.
Students must be enrolled at CSUSB at the time of
application and be of good academic standing.
How does the program work? Students selected for this
program will:
- Work with CoyoteCareers staff, department
faculty, and community partners (nonprofit agencies,
schools or government offices/agencies) to find an
internship that meets the needs of both the student and
the community.
- Enroll in an internship course with academic
units based on all or part of the service learning
assignment.
- Complete a 100-hour internship during Summer
Session or 2008 Fall Term.
- Receive a pre-tax stipend of $1,000 upon
completion of the 100 hour service assignment, the
academic requirements for the internship, and an
evaluation of the CoyoteCareers Stipend Program
experience.
Screening of applications begins immediately and will
continue until all CoyoteCareers Stipends have been
awarded, based on the CoyoteCareers Stipend criteria.
Twenty stipends will be awarded for the 2008 Summer
Sessions and 2008 Fall Quarter and are available on a
first come first served basis. Additional stipends will
be available during the 2008-2009 academic year.
