Eric Corey Freed is the Director of Organic Architect, a San Francisco based architectural and consulting firm. He has nearly 20 years of experience in green building and the science of making commercial buildings friendly to the environment.

The Greek myth of Sisyphus tells the story of a man punished by
the gods to roll a boulder uphill for eternity.  And that is what
our buildings do - eternally consume energy and resources.  In
this new, thought-provoking talk, you will uncover the hidden
opportunities across our largest environmental problem areas.   We will take a journey through Suburbia, Las Vegas and New Orleans and uncover how we are missing opportunities to save energy, water and money.  

Drawn from the most advanced research, Eric's talk uses rich graphics, multimedia and never before seen data, this seminar will change your view of green building.  This talk will only be presented in 2009.

Eric will talk about how to:

*  Create a deployable plan how to save energy, water & money in
our most common building types

*  Discover ways to sell clients on the crucial need for greening
our buildings in new & funny ways

*  Understand the problems & issues surrounding our way of life by exploring data in an innovative way

Each presentation begins at 2:00 PM in the Oliphant Auditorium on the Campus of the California State University on Cook Street just south of US 10 in Palm Desert, California.

The Series is open to our entire desert community. Students, faculty and staff of all the desert's educational institutions with current ID are welcome to attend at no charge.

 

The Distinguished Speaker Series was developed to bring speakers with in-depth analyses, insights, and commentaries. Speakers come from the world's leading movers and shakers who help to shape our desert communities.

 

Topics include issues of scientific interest, history,  philosophy and the humanities. These will be held at the Oliphant Auditorium on the Campus of the California State University - Palm Desert Campus (CSUSB-PDC).

 

This series is offered to provide the community with access to outstanding speakers, and develop a setting which will help create and sustain a more informed and vital intellectual community. This is a joint effort between CSUSB-PDC, the College of the Desert, and the World Affairs Council.
