About the Speaker:
Stuart Hemphill is responsible for SCE's renewable and alternative power department which procures electricity from wind, solar, biomass, geothermal and small hydro resources. He manages and administers SCE's $2.5-billion portfolio of renewable and alternative power contracts.
 
Mr. Hemphill has his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from California State University, Fullerton, and his master's degree in business administration from California Polytechnic State University, Pomona.

SummAry:
Mr. Hemphill began working for SCE's parent company, SCEcorp (now Edison International) in 1994 in the corporate development organization where he developed business plans for new business and evaluated large technology investments.  From 1996 through 2000 he worked in Edison International's strategic planning and new business development group.  In 2000, he was appointed director of business development for SCE, and in 2002 he was appointed director of resource planning and strategy where he oversaw the development of SCE's long-term plans and the economic and operational analysis of third-party power contracts and large-scale utility projects.

The Series is open to our entire desert community. Students, faculty and staff of all the desert's educational institutions with current ID are welcome to attend at no charge.
