Faculty Guide to Information Resources
orientation for your class
You and your students are invited to arrange an orientation, which can include the techniques of doing research in an online library system, hands-on database instruction, and an overview of information and library services. Please contact me to arrange a class session in the Helene A. Hixon Information Resource Center, HS-103, 37-500 Cook Street Palm Desert , CA 92211 .  My phone number is (760) 341-2883, ext. 78112 and my email address is butter@csusb.edu

Want your home page and email links on PDC's web site?
If you would like your students to have quick access to your Home Page please email or contact Bonnie Butterfield (Librarian/Web master).  A link to your Web site will be placed at: http://pdc.csusb.edu/faculty.htm and http://pdc.csusb.edu/faculty_Courses.htm

Want to place course materials online, via Pfau Library's Electronic Reserves?
CSUSB PDC faculty have an online "Electronic Reserves and Course Materials" service to help students obtain supplemental course materials in the easiest manner possible. The Pfau Library Reserve staff will scan your hard-copies of quizzes, exams, homework solutions, lecture notes, study guides, articles, book chapters, and other related material. Within 72 hours, these course materials will be available on the Pfau Library Electronic Reserves and Course Materials web site for access by your students using their MyCoyote I.D. number. Your students will enter your online reserve materials at  http://pdc.csusb.edu/StudentAccessReserves.htm

All you need do is to download the following form, fill it out, and sign your name. You may get the form from Bonnie in HS-103. This form tells Pfau Library how you want your materials broken into parts and what titles you want each part to have. http://www.lib.csusb.edu/about/e-reserve-faculty.pdf    Need Acrobat Reader?
*** No need to worry about copyright infringement by placing articles or book chapters online for your students to access. Offering course materials for educational purposes only falls under the "fair use" clause of the Copyright Law of the United States (Title 17, Section 107, United States Code). It allows photocopies of copyrighted materials to be offered to your students for educational purposes (not to make money).

Give the completed form along with the hardcopy course materials to Bonnie in HS-103. Or, you may prefer to place this completed form and a hard copy of your Power Point slides, class notes, study notes, articles, chapters, etc. into Bonnie's staff box (Bonnie Butterfield). Your materials will be accessible to your students in 3 days. Please note that we will need to do this each quarter since Pfau Library will remove it at the end of the quarter.  You may also wish to keep a hard copy of course materials on Reserve in HS-103.  Contact Bonnie at: butter@csusb.edu or (760) 341-2883 ext. 78112.

Logging into Online Library Resources
When you click on a database link, you will get the Pfau Library login page. Type your MyCoyote Number (your employee number), and your last name and click "Continue," to enter the database. If access is blocked contact Bonnie Butterfield at: butter@csusb.edu or (760) 341-2883 ext. 78112.
